TRI-MANIA NYC (formerly known as the Multisport World Conference and Expo) offers a series of hands-on clinics and in depth workshops designed to help you improve your performance and technique this season. These clinics and workshops require registration and a fee to participate and attendance is limited to ensure maximum learning opportunities. Clinics and workshops to be offered are listed below:
- Chi Running: Level I and Level II (clinic times throughout the day)

CHI RUNNING:
ChiRunning combines the inner focus and flow of Tai Chi with the power and energy of running to create a revolutionary running form and philosphy that takes the pounding, pain and potential damage out of the sport of running. ChiRunning Level I and Level II clinics will be offered at Multisport World NYC. Each clinic is 2 hours and will be held outside.
ChiRunning Level I Clinic: The Level I clinic will include (1) an introduction to ChiRunning and it's benefits to triathletes; (2) how ChiRunning can help prevent injury and promote energy efficiency; (3) how to cooperate with the force of gravity and the force of the road when running; and (4) proper ChiRunning form. This clinic will take place outdoors.
ChiRunning Level II Clinic: The Level II clinic is designed to help individuals familiar with the basics of ChiRunning take ChiRunning to another level. This clinic will provide (1) a review of proper ChiRunning posture; (2) how to cooperate with the force of gravity and the force of the road when running; and (3) how to run more efficiently and faster with pelvic rotation and use of your oblique muscle. This clinic will also cover hill running and offer video analysis before and after the clinic. The ChiRunning Level II clinic will also take place outdoors.

TRIATHLON SWIM SKILLS CLINIC
For many, the swim is the most challenging part of a triathlon, but it doesn't have to be. The swim is the shortest part of a tri and with proper technique, being relaxed and able to breathe properly; anyone can finish the swim feeling strong and relaxed.
The Triathlon Swim Skills clinics at TRI-MANIA NYC will take place in the Dodge Fitness Center's indoor pool and is appropriate for all multisport athletes that want to improve their swimming efficiency, skills and comfort. Designed for triathletes with basic swimming skills, the goals of the clinic are to help you:
- Improve your breathing
- Help you relax more
- Improve your stroke technique
- Make you more efficient in the water (i.e. more streamlined and reduced drag)
Each athlete in this 90 minute clinic will be videotaped and then receive feedback on their stroke from the expert coaches from Asphalt Green that will be leading the clinics
Clinics will be offered at 8:00AM, 9:45AM and 12:30PM and as a BONUS for attending all clinic participants will receive a $25 discount off the Spring Asphalt Green Tri Stroke Clinic OR a $25 discount coupon for a Swim Video analysis at Asphalt Green (redeemable during calendar year 2013).

GETTING FASTER IN THE SWIM
This 75 minute swim clinic is for intermediate to advanced level swimmers that are looking for ways to get faster in the swim -- and want a good swim workout. on the day Led by veteran swim coach Neil Cook of Asphalt Green, this clinic will focus on improving your efficiency, getting a better feel for the water and swimming faster. Athletes should bring paddles and be prepared for a 1,000 yard "hard" workout.
After warming up, participants in this clinic will do a series of 25 and 50 yard intervals while working on form with and without paddles. The clinic will include Q&A in the water and on the pool deck.

DEVELOPING A TRAINING PLAN FOR A HALF DISTANCE TRIATHLON (with Dave Scott)
In this 90 minute workshop with "The Man", 6x Ironman World Champion Dave Scott, you will learn what you need to create a training program for a half distance triathlon (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run). In a classroom setting, Dave will cover:
How to determine the right training volume, training intensity and proper recovery
- A breakdown of the training schedule: key microcycles including lactate threshold specific blocks, VO2 training and bricks
- Marker sets or test sets that precisely determine your p[otential and race capabilities
- Training and racing nutrition and fueling
- How to prevent injuries -- key exercises to do 2-3x/week
- How to maximize your mental game
This 90 minute workshop will be held at 8:00AM in the Lou Gehrig Room in the Dodge Fitness Center at Columbia University (same location for all TRI-MANIA events).
NOTE: This workshop is best suited for athletes that have completed at least 2 half distance triathlons.

STRENGTH TRAINING FOR TRIATHLETES
Improve your performance in triathlon. Reduce the risk of injury. Speed up recovery time from swim/bike/run workouts. GET FASTER! Laura Cozik shows you how in this 1 hour workshop that gives you a proper strength training routine you can complete in short, effective, 30 minutes sessions. Expect to see improvements in just 3 weeks time!! Participants will actually DEMO the exercises to ensure good form and proper execution. It will be FUN... guaranteed!

CREATING A PERSONAL NUTRITION PLAN: YOUR GUIDE TO CONQUERING HALF AND FULL IRON DISTANCE TRIATHLONS
Join registered dietician Lauren Antonucci, MS, RD, CSSD, CDE, CDN and director/owner of Nutrition Energy for this interactive workshop designed for athletes that are planning to race a half (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 run) or full (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run) distnce triathlon.
Under Lauren's guidance, participants will learn the proper amount of carbs, protein and fat needed to most effectively fuel their individual daily training schedule. Participants will also receive a customized recommendation to meet their individual fluid, sodium/electrolyte, calorie, carb and protein needs during training/racing and their unique post-race nutrition needs for optimizing recovery and immunity.
The workshop will also include discussion and taste tests of different popular products including several drinks, gels, bars and chews. Inclusion of "real food" items as desired/appropriate for each athlete.

THE DAVE SCOTT ACTIVE WORKSHOP (Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Columbia University's Dodge Fitness Center)
A "bonus" to the multisport festivities offered at TRI-MANIA NYC, the Dave Scott Active Workshop is a unique opportunity for triathletes to learn how to improve their swim and run technique and gain a competitive mental advantage directly from 6x Ironman World Champion, Dave Scott. This 1/2 day workshop to be held on Sunday, March 17th (the day AFTER the TRI-MANIA Summit and Expo in NYC) and includes hands on instruction in the pool, on the run and in the classroom with one of the legends of the sport who will share his years of experience as an accomplished athlete and highly regarded triathlon coach.
Participants will come away from this workshop with a greater understanding of efficient body mechanics that make you faster in the swim and run, and a better mental approach to both training and racing. To maximize the learning opportunity, this workshop will be limited to 24 participants.
